Which Star Wars trilogy is better? Do you prefer the fast-paced action of the prequels, or do you much prefer the much slower, more thought out films from the original Skywalker trilogy? Perhaps you enjoy the new cast of characters that defy what you thought the world of Star Wars was? In this post I will review each of the trilogies so far and dive into what I think we can expect form the final Skywalker installment in the triple trilogy.

A legend is coming to an end as the Skywalker is about to wrap up with the ninth and final installment of an epic saga. Not only does the Rey trilogy excite, but it also sends Star Wars in a new and futuristic direction. This could be exciting stuff if the saga was not coming to an end. We started off fantastically. Episode VII was a thriller, with sales that are still beating Avengers: Endgame, this film certainly performed in the box office. Not only did it have appeal to small kids, but also to the older and middle-aged generations as well. Star was has always had that to its advantage, it spans over several different generations. This is probably why it did so well. The second movie “The Last Jedi”, went in a more non-traditional style for the saga. This caused uproar and many people began to boycott the movie and petition to remake the film. With the third one coming in the winter. We could be in for a great success or an utter failure. So far this trilogy receives a grade of 6/10 from me.

If the prequels tickle your fancy, then read this. Not only did the prequels include multiple stars of the big screen but it also took imaginative fighting to the next level. Since the very first Star Wars film, fans have been dying to see more hardcore fight scenes between Jedi and Sith. The prequels delivered and gave us a great trilogy of fights, my favorite being Obi Wan and Anakin’s battle against Count Dooku in Revenge of the Sith. While the combat certainly improved the story and acting was weak (not from Ewan McGregor of course). In general, the prequels excited and even though they are regarded as boring I think the consistency of George Lucas in creating a series that explained Darth Vader well was a success for the franchise. I give this trilogy a 7/10.

The original trilogy was absolutely the first franchise to break records. Even Star Trek could barely keep up with these smash hits. The story was phenomenal, the acting was fantastic and the overall feeling we got when the trilogy ended was like nothing anyone has ever experienced. This trilogy is unrivaled by other space stories of its time. While the CGI is nothing impressive now, it certainly was when it was created. The fighting in the two later films was exceptional and well thought out. George Lucas certainly did a fantastic job on these films, as everyone already knows. In general, I think this trilogy will always be held close to fans hearts however since I do not know how the ninth chapter in the saga will turn out I cannot say which will be truly better yet. For me right now, the original trilogy scores a 9/10 (simply from that one lame fight in episode IV).

Thanks for tuning in and stay tuned for more posts, just like this one!
